An Iconic Riverside Pub in London

The White Hart has long been part of the rhythm of life along the Thames. Friends gather here for pints in the sunshine, couples celebrate their “I do’s” overlooking the river, and families return year after year to enjoy the views together. It’s a pub that has quietly become part of Barnes’ story, a place where the river, good food and good company come together.

There are plenty of spots to settle in, from benches along the river to tables on the terrace, while upstairs a beautiful private space offers a memorable setting for special occasions.

Expect fresh, seasonal British dishes, thoughtful specials and a drinks list worth lingering over. Whether you’re joining us after a riverside walk or planning a long lunch with friends, we are the local by the river.

Where Every Plate Tastes As Good As The View Looks

Summer with us is all about flavour, seasonality and the simple pleasure of dining by the river. Our kitchen champions fresh, British ingredients that create dishes that taste like home, alongside the classics, our specials board changes regularly, showcasing the best seasonal meats, fresh fish and produce that arrives in the kitchen.

Sundays remain a highlight, with generous roasts perfect after a walk along the Thames. Take a table on the terrace, enjoy the river views, and let the food do the talking.

The Best Place To Watch Boat Race 2026

The Oxford vs Cambridge Boat Race with a finish line view. The race reaches its climax right in front of us, guests arrive early to line the river, gathering along the terrace and banks as the atmosphere builds. It’s a day shaped by anticipation, riverside views and shared moments, unmistakably special, every year.

For those seeking the best seat on the river, our Boat Race Gala Lunch offers a first-floor balcony view overlooking the finish line. Four seasonal courses, a glass of bubbly, and uninterrupted views as the boats cross, an unrivaled way to experience the race. Ensure you book for our lunch, as spaces are limited.

As the oars rest, the celebrations continue with live entertainment and riverside drinks long into the afternoon. Come early to your riverside spot, we won’t be taking table bookings!

Excellent dining at a riverside pub with spectacular views. The food here is several steps above standard pub fare. We had chicken croquettes with anchovies- a modern twist on a chicken Caesar classic. Our mains were great too. The service & wine selection is excellent.
